Jovanna Emerson

Jovanna Emerson, Ph.D. is the Director of Behavior Supports for CHOICES and ECF CHOICES at UnitedHealthcare. She assumed her role at UHC in November 2016. In her role as Director of Behavior Supports, Jovanna and her team support both the CHOICES and ECF CHOICES programs’ support and care coordination efforts to ensure high quality services and supports for individuals with I/DD, elderly individuals and/or individuals with physical disabilities. Jovanna supervises a team of clinicians with particular expertise in the management of behavior conditions and challenges often experienced within the I/DD population. Jovanna earned her Ph.D. and Master’s Degree in School Psychology from Tennessee State University. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Jovanna is licensed as a psychologist with the Health Service Provider (HSP) designation through the Tennessee Board of Examiners of Psychology. Jovanna completed her doctoral internship at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and a year of post-doctoral work at the Diagnostic Center at Currey Ingram Academy. After her post-doctoral year, Jovanna remained at the Diagnostic Center as a licensed psychologist providing psychoeducational assessment and diagnostic services to children and adolescents who presented with a variety of behavioral, cognitive, learning, or social/emotional issues. In addition to experience with assessment and diagnostic services, Jovanna has over 15 years of experience providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, language disorder, or other developmental delays. Prior to assuming her role with UHC, she also served as a consultant with Julie Mayer Behavioral Consulting, Inc., a Nashville-based company providing early interventions to children with Autism or other developmental delays.
